In a world where stove failure or GPS breakdown can become a serious survival issue, we partner with brands around the world to test equipment in real expedition conditions and provide honest field feedback for both manufacturers and adventurers.

How does The Gear Lab work?

Initial evaluation

We receive or select equipment that will be relevent to our upcoming expedition from our partners. We reach an agreement on what is to be expected on both parts during the expedition.

Field testing

The equipment is used during our expeditions. We expose it to harsh elements, extreme conditions and repeated handlings for weeks/months. During this time, we document the behavior of the equipement : Any changes, breakage or improvements will be duly noted.

Brand feedback

Partners receive feedback, failure points, image material and improvement suggestions from our expedition use. In the form of a detailed document relating everything.

Public publication

The final result becomes a public review, field report, article, video or recommendation inside the Life Expeditions Gear Lab.
