March 2026: solo winter crossing of Iceland, north to south. About twenty days in the field, including storm days pinned in the tent. The Touring 145 carried food, fuel, shelter and camera kit through highland snow, windslab and soft drift.
How it performed
On firm surfaces the sled tracked true and stayed predictable behind the skis. In soft snow the wider 44 cm hull paid for its stability with more drag, expected and still manageable with careful packing and weight balance.
Volume was right for unsupported travel in the 40-70 kg band without tipping into the bulk of a longer hull. The cover and straps kept the load secure in wind. No structural issues, no field repairs.
Conclusion
The Touring 145 is a solid mid-size expedition pulka. Right length for long unsupported travel without the bulk of a 160. I recommend it for solo or two-person polar routes in the 40-70 kg load band, especially where stability matters as much as volume.
